Are you still paying for that?!? - 12/20/2021

Updated: Jul 29, 2022

When is the last time you looked at your credit card and bank statements? I mean really looked and evaluated the recurring charges you are paying.

It's so easy to keep doing what we've been doing, paying for what we have 'always' paid for. It's not in our best interest.

Are you still going to a particular coffee place because you paid for a membership for the coffee club? Has its location or your job changed so that it is no longer on the way? If you are a coffee connoisseur and their coffee is the best ever to you, it may be worth the extra time and money to keep going there. But if you are just going there because of habit and there's a better option for you, don't be afraid to change. If you are wrong, you can always change back.

Are you paying monthly for a streaming channel you don't watch? It's difficult, these days, to follow a tv series that may move to another platform that you didn't subscribe to before. How many shows have to be on a channel before you pay for it? I don't have answer for this, but it is something you need to consider for your own time and money circumstances.

Are you paying annually for a subscription that you no longer make use of? This is that hardest one to catch. Some subscriptions may automatically renew annually, and if you haven't changed your credit card or bank account, it might be a month before you notice. At that point it is easy to say, "I'll catch it next year". Chances are you won't. If you really aren't using something, cancel it when you catch it. If you change your mind and realize you miss it, they will always be happy to take your money later.
